Scrub Me Facials

Skincare routines can be completely overwhelming, I mean we are talking about a million different types of products being applied to countless skin types. Often times we don't have time to make our outer layers a priority. Skin is the body's largest organ and plays an important role in protecting everything inside our human capsules. Finding the right match and chemistry to suit your needs can be quite daunting. Caring for your skin not only has cosmetic benefits but medical as well. Some are even born with skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema and acne. One of the biggest takeaways we recently learned is that it is very beneficial to use a cleanser, toner and moisturizer daily.

We both struggle with pigmentation issues. Without foundation, there are times when Katie looks like she's 2 glasses of wine deep and her cheeks are rosy as can be. Amanda's hyperpigmentation has only gotten worse with hormones and age with most of that pigmentation above her lips creating a very attractive Charlie Chaplin looking mustache. Implementing a skincare routine is one of the best things you can do for your beauty regimen. Earlier this month we ditched our normal “routines” and had a spa day at Scrub Me located in Wicker Park to get some tips, and basic to-dos.

Scrub me was started as a passion project in 2013 by Katherine, an esthetician. What originally began as a line of handmade body scrubs has evolved into so much more! Scrub Me is now a full line of soaps, scrubs, body butter, lip items and facial care products that have been carefully selected and created with plant-based ingredients working together to target a specific skin type or skin concern.

Facial details: Both of us got the "exclusive plant based facial” that is a customizable facial that always includes skincare, lymph drainage, and cool rolling. Additional add-ons are available like dermaplaning to any facial.

Katie’s facial:

Pre cleanse using scrub me nourishing serum

Cleanse using PCA facial wash

Exfoliation using scrub me Antioxidant powder mask - with steam

Anti inflammatory toner using Ology essentials CBD toner

Extractions

PCA hydrate mask with added ground oats (hydrate and anti-redness)

Gua sha lymph drainage using Wildling beauty gua she stone and scrub me nourishing serum

Cool roller

Amanda's facial:

Gua sha lymph drainage using Wildling beauty gua she stone and scrub me nourishing serum. Also performed friction movements for pigment.

Cool roller

Prior to our appointment Katherine asked what areas of concern or focus we had. This allowed her to customize our experience further. The best part of getting a facial at Scrub Me with Katherine is the follow up post procedure! Although she was happy to answer any of our questions during the process we could truly enjoy our time and relax knowing she would provide an in-depth explanation along with blog pieces to enhance our routine and keep us on track moving forward. Katherine was willing to answer any of our questions and keep the communication line open!

Below is the website link for Scrub Me where you can find products, blog pieces, social media and Katherine's booking site. We highly recommend treating yourself, taking some time to relax, and focusing on your largest organ!

Our New Year "resolution" is to focus and maintain a healthy skin care routine lifelong. After our appointments we purchased the following items to keep us on track.

We’re all about ROUTINES and not resolutions this year. So here's to routines that are sustainable, realistic AND healthy in 2022!
